Whether you are a business or an individual it is important to remember that even after you delete your private information, and even after you format the hard disk in your computer and reinstall the OEM software your deleted data may be able to be recovered. There are only two ways to insure that your information is safe when you get rid of your old computer.



1. You can remove the hard drive and pay to have it shredded.

This method is  100% effective but it renders the computer inoperable without the purchase of a new hard drive.

2. You can use a piece of software that repeatedly overwrites every sector of the hard drive making your data permanently unrecoverable. This process is time consuming but the cost to you can be zero.

I can provide you with either of these options. The cost to you can be zero depending on the type of equipment and the method of disposal.
